Walmart Associates Can Help In-Store Shoppers Check Out Online
The American retailer's latest updates to its in-store associate app will enable customers to efficiently place online orders from the store if the location doesn't have an item in stock or it is unwieldy to transport
As large as most of Walmart‘s brick-and-mortar stores are, sometimes an item listed online may not be available in stores. The big box retailer wants to make ordering that item easier for customers by equipping its store associates with a special app.
Customer opt for an online purchase while in the store for a variety of reasons: Perhaps the item they want may have sold out quickly, but was still available online, or an item might be too big for the customer to take home. A Walmart store associate can now help customers do so with an app connected to Walmart.com, ordering the item and printing off a receipt that the customer then takes to the checkout lane, where they can pay via any method, including cash.
Customers can chose to ship the purchased item directly to their home or opt to pick it up, continuing to blur the lines between online and brick-and-mortar retail and promoting greater fluidity while also serving customers who prefer cash payment or may not have internet access. This service follows a number of new app capabilities to enhance how Walmart associates can service customers, enabling convenience while continuing to drive in-store sales.
