While the efficiency of ecommerce can be tough for brick and mortar to compete with, London-based design agency YourStudio is helping Well Pharmacy do so by enhancing its store design, optimizing locations of different features to reduce wait times and enable on-demand assistance

Store design can have a significant influence on the customer experience, and is one strategy retailers are turning to to elevate their offering in relation to ecommerce. U.K.-based Well Pharmacy recently teamed up with YourStudio architects to create an innovative floor plan designed to streamline the customer journey, from discovery to purchase.

The first of these stores is piloting in Manchester. One of the main features of the new plan is that the dispensary will be located in the front of the store rather than the back. The employees have been given touchdown stations where they can better provide customer service. The store also features a 24-hour vending machine to service patients during off hours.

Convenience is a tremendously important aspect of in-store customer service, particularly vis-a-vis the efficiency of ecommerce. YourStudio’s Tom Philipson says of the design, “Through workshopping and understanding Well’s business and customer needs, we strategically developed a new customer journey to improve efficiencies, reduce wait times and hopefully taken the business and sector in a new direction.”
