Carnival's Caribbean Princess and Regal Princess ships will feature a slew of new technology rolling out across the next year.

The Carnival Cruise Caribbean Princess is now equipped with immersive technology designed to add to the passenger experience.

Carnival has been in the process of updating its Medallion-class ships, which will soon be fully incorporated with touchscreens, sensors, and device connectivity to bolster the use of PlayOcean, the ship's new platform. Onboard sensors help to track passengers locations, which are connected to custom “Medallions” worn on the wrist or around the neck and represented on screens throughout the ship via customized called Tagalongs. The cloud-based Medallions store the traveler's personal data, from room number to passport information.

The Tagalongs appear on the touchscreens around the ship, as well as being accessible on smartphones and tablets both before and after the trip. The onboard touchscreens also offer a series of games that can be played by Tagalongs, and an online Ocean Casino app offers mobile PlayOcean activities.

These updates will be coming to Princess liners of all kinds throughout 2019.
