Korean cosmetics giant Innisfree is partnering with Chinese ecommerce group Alibaba to create a digitally enhanced shopping experience geared towards consumers in China. Located in the city of Hangzhou, the revamped store features a plethora of digital-led interactive features.

One component of the high-tech store is the augmented reality Magic Mirror, which lets customers try on makeup virtually and a Smart Shelf that immediately brings up the product's information once a customer picks it off the shelves. There's also an AR photo booth so customers can grab a snapshot with Nine Percent, a popular Chinese boy band, while shopping. The store even has Taobao connectivity, which lets customers buy items from their phones in-store at steep discounts.

These upgrades are meant to better inform and integrate buyers. “Tmall’s technology and experience will undoubtedly play a vital role in formulating our New Retail layout in the Chinese market,” Filipp Cai, general manager of Innisfree China tells Alizila. “We have introduced digital, entertainment and interactive technologies in our physical stores, merged online and offline membership and enhanced consumer insights through upgrading our stores.”
