Hoping to tap the influence and buying power of consumers in China, global high-end brands are looking for ways to better engage this demographic. Retail giant JD.com is helping brands to do so though its recently launched online shopping platform, Toplife.

Toplife is a full-price portal for buying luxury products, which allows brands outside China to set up online flagships and sell directly to customers. It features items ranging from fashion, jewelry, watches to health and beauty, home furnishings, cosmetics and electronics. JD.com provides 24-hour customer service and marketing resources for these brands as they sign up, giving them an edge on their competition. Current brands include La Perla, Emporio Armani, Rimowa (LVMH), B&O Play and Trussardi.

“Our deep understanding of high-end consumers has enabled us to launch a luxury ecommerce ecosystem that provides a truly premium shopping experience, and helps partners tell their brand story to local consumers,” said Richard Liu, Chairman and CEO of JD.com in a press release. “Working with Toplife, luxury brands worldwide are now able to directly provide customers throughout China with a true luxury shopping experience previously only associated with high-end offline stores. Toplife aims to mirror the offline luxury shopping experience in a premium e-commerce experience.”
