In Brief

MaskiD is the beauty retailer's latest app for iOS that customers can use to assess their skin condition and determine ingredients for particular areas of the face to create a custom sheet mask

Building off of its Skin360 iPhone accessory, beauty and skincare brand Neutrogena created an app that designs custom face masks for consumers. MaskiD is Neutrogena’s iOS app that can either be used independently of Skin360 or with the help of the older app to generate the most accurate reading of an individual’s face and skin condition, and from there recommend particular contents for the mask.

The program offers five main ingredients to choose from after assessing the individual’s skin condition: stabilized vitamin C, purified hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, feverfew, and N-Acetylglucosamine. The various ingredients can be selected for six defined facial zones: forehead, eyes, cheeks, nose, chin and chin-to-cheek lines. Skin360 can also continue to use the platform to track progress from the masks created by MaskiD.

MaskiD is only available on Apple products and depends on the advanced TrueDepth camera of the iPhone X model and above for its 3D-imaging capabilities, requiring the advanced camera for creating a mask that will fit each individual’s face. This digital integration is designed to capitalize on the sheet mask trend that has been a major player in the beauty world for the past few years.
