The two leading brands partnered to enable a seamless, all-in-one service integration across the Starbucks app and mobile apps within Alibaba's OS for the coffee chain's China outpost

Starbucks is looking to offer customers in China a new way to order their favorite food and gifts from the brand in one single app. Teaming up with Alibaba Group, Starbucks recently opened a new virtual presence across the mega retailer's many platforms.

Across Tmall, Alipay and Taobao, the American brand now has a one-stop virtual shop that lets customers partake in “Starbucks Delivers,” “Say it with Starbucks” social gifting and the Starbucks Tmall flagship store. The social gifting service allows for customers to add the name of the recipient onto the gift card or other merchandise from their Tmall shop. The new delivery service works in much the same way Uber Eats does, except that it utilizes Ele.me and only serves Starbucks food and beverage items.

The goal of the partnership is to enable a one-touch Starbucks experience, letting consumers simply use the Starbucks and Alibaba's mobile apps to access what they need, when they need it. The integration of Starbucks into the Alibaba ecosystem is intended to increase the accessibility, personalization and cross-platform capability of both brands' services to their customers.
