Colruyt grocery stores will allow shoppers to create and send lists for filling by voice via an app integrated with Google Assistant

Belgian supermarket Colruyt is working to create voice-automated shopping lists. Using Google Assistant, Colruyt shoppers will be able to dictate their shopping lists and have them recorded on the MyColruyt app or the website.

This function also allows for hands-free creation of lists, as shoppers will be able to just say the words to their Google Assistant-enabled devices to have the products added. Google Assistant will also automatically add the brand of item that shoppers most recently purchased, but gives them the option to change it on the app or website.

The lists can be sent on to the Collect&Go grocery pickup service offered by Colruyt to be gathered for customers, or be used as a normal grocery list. As retailers continue to experiment with different voice command and virtual assistance integrations, Colruyt marketing director Guy Elewaut explains, “Together with our customers, we will see if voice technology is an efficient tool to prepare a shopping list.”
