The digital-native apparel retailer is rolling out the first of its brick-and-mortar FitShops in New York City, featuring merchandise samples and ship-to-home delivery

Vintage-inspired clothing e-tailer ModCloth is expanding into physical retail with a boutique in downtown Manhattan. The SoHo FitShop is the first stop for ModCloth's expansion plan, which includes nearly 20 new stores open by the end of 2019.

The FitShops work like ModCloth showrooms: They only carry samples and assist customers in having them ordered in the proper size and shipped to their home. ModCloth is a size-inclusive brand, so its FitShops function as an important means to showcase its commitment to providing fashionable apparel for diverse sizes.

Additional locations to look forward to include Chicago, Philadelphia and Salt Lake City, marking part of a wave of expansions for ModCloth. Earlier this month, the retailer began a wholesale partnership with Nordstrom and has also expanded its ecommerce plan to include overseas markets.
