The Singapore hub is inviting travelers to dine, shop and stroll through gardens at its Jewel shopping center, joining the trend around travel establishments investing in on-site destinations

This April, Singapore’s Changi Airport will be opening its long-awaited Jewel project, an entertainment and retail hub intended to upgrade the travel experience. Jewel will take the shape of a massive shopping center located just outside of the Changi Airport’s Terminal 1, open to both travelers and the general public.

The structure will involve a steel and glass dome that houses shopping, leisure and fine dining facilities. Jewel will also feature the world’s largest indoor waterfall, called the Rain Vortex and reaching a height of forty meters and hosting a nightly light and sound show. The top floor will be home to Canopy Park, a place for walking and enjoying flowers, providing a green space for relaxation in the busy city hub.

The complex will also house a hedge maze, bouncy nets and a look-out tower for kids, as well as Asia’s first YotelAir accommodations. The Changi Airport joins the many travel establishments investing in experiential retail and activities for shoppers, transforming the traveling into an enjoyable—and shoppable—destination of its own.
