Affordable South African airline Kulula recently launched an app to streamline and personalize the traveling experience. While still in its early phase, the program is currently available on iPhone and Android devices.

Some of the features offered include mobile seat selection and check in, updates on flight status and also social capabilities, like sharing boarding passes and weather forecasts of the destination with friends and family. Some of the planned additions for the next iteration of the app include booking flights and rental cars as well as push notifications to keep travelers updated on their flights.

“This venture combines some of the brightest digital and technology specialists in the country. The aviation industry is forcing players to find enhanced ways of growing and maintaining their customer base and with this in mind, we developed our flagship public product to deliver Kulula passengers with a more seamless travel experience,” says Amanda Mocellin, Chief Executive of Nacelle.
