The beverage retailer's dispensary system uses mobile technology to enable customers to personalize hydration goals and track environmental footprint

Beverage titan PepsiCo has been pioneering innovation within the beverage industry for many years. Over the past two years, the company has been focusing on environmental efforts; the brand's ‘Beyond The Bottle' campaign, a commitment to meet evolving consumer demands for more-sustainable and convenient ways of consuming PepsiCo products, has found success through zero-waste packaging, recycled bottles and more. The campaign has recently taken its next step, venturing into services with the launch of its mobile-enabled beverage dispensary.

The hydration platform is specifically built to target consumer trends in personalization. Using the system's companion smartphone app, consumers can scan a personalized QR code sticker in order to recognize and record various aspects of their daily hydration. Users can track and set their own drinking goals as well as their environmental impact, with personalized, automatic counts of water bottles saved. In addition, the dispensary features an extensive range of customizable options, including flavor, carbonation and temperature. Users can save their optimal drink settings within the app, and the platform will store and remember it for future interactions.

“This new platform addresses a number of trends we're seeing resonate with consumers, including increasing concern for the environment and preference for refillable bottles, as well as desire for choice and personalization whenever possible,” says Scott Finlow, chief marketing officer of PepsiCo Foodservice.

The sleek system is available in both standalone and countertop sizes, and features an interactive touchscreen that provides users with a tech-driven, seamless experience. All water from the dispensary is nano-filtered to guarantee cleanliness, a simple but important design feature for a wellness-focused consumer market.
