Watch brand Shinola is bringing its high-end image to a branded Detroit hotel that celebrates and bolsters the local community

U.S.-based luxury lifestyle brand Shinola recently opened a hotel that attempts to combine the old with the new in its hometown of Detroit, Michigan. The retailer, which deals in high-end merchandise from leather goods to bicycles, has moved in to two abandoned spaces, which formally housed T.B Rayl and Company, and Singer sewing machines, to create a branded Shinola Hotel Detroit.

The architectural feat was completed by Kraemer Design Group and Gachot Studios and was designed to capture and blend the history of Downtown Detroit with the luxury of Shinola's image. The hotel has 129 rooms as well as on-site eating and shopping options. Some of the names that will be present at the shopping and dining experiences at Shinola include The Brakeman, Madewell and Le Labo.

This hotel will also feature local Detroit talent as well as more established brands to enable immersive and cultural experiences. The location is designed to support the city in its resurgence while cultivating engagement with consumers.
