The food delivery service revamped its mobile app to feature colorful animations, clearer delivery tracking and more specific timing options

As a growing part of the gig economy, more rideshare drivers are branching into food delivery. Uber Eats is looking to get ahead of its competitors by improving its app features, including animations and more transparent delivery tracking information.

The redesigned Uber Eats interface allows customers to contact their driver before the food is picked up, includes a new tracking bar with dynamic graphics and featuring more specific timing options. The goal is not only to differentiate the service in a busy space but also to increase the transparency of information to help ease problems.

“Sometimes confusion over a delivery can lead to customers blaming a courier or a restaurant for their experiences. By bringing that information upfront, we hope to provide better accountability and transparency for our customers, restaurant partners and couriers,” an Uber Eats spokesperson tells Restaurant Dive. The redesign of the app and mobile website will be available in 16 cities, including San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Miami.
