The health-focused grocer is testing a bodega-style mini-mart in New York City, offering busy customers food to go and convenience-store essentials

American grocer and lifestyle retailer Whole Foods Market is testing out a bodega-style concept store in Manhattan. Located next to a Chelsea location of the parent store, the Whole Foods Market Daily Shop is designed to sit at the juncture of health and convenience.

The shop will feature a self-service kiosk for a true grab-and-go experience. In line with Whole Foods brand values of health and wellness, the location will also include a kombucha bar as well as local healthy brands like Gotham Greens, Dun-well and Dough, and Allegro Coffee, which consumers can take out or enjoy at a bar setting within the shop.

The bodega will also offer a limited selection of produce and typical convenience-store products like travel-sized toiletries and other necessities. This is the first concept store of its kind from Whole Foods, as it tests out new formats within its broader strategy. It will open daily from 6am to 11pm.
