Introduced earlier this year for brands, the platform's Checkout feature can now be integrated into top influencer accounts like Gigi Hadid's or GQ's, letting followers easily shop their posts

Instagram is increasingly positioning itself as a go-to platform to connect brands to customers, often through campaigns with popular influencers. But in order to buy any featured products from their favorite Instagrammers, consumers have to follow links to get to product pages. To eliminate this pain point, Instagram has announced that it will soon let influencers integrate its recently launched Checkout feature, which streamlined the social commerce experience by letting Instagram account holders buy items advertised in shoppable images from within the app.

Starting May 9, influencers like Kim Kardashian West, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Vogue and GQ will be able to add Checkout to their posts that feature products. Customers will be able to view and buy items, all without ever leaving the app. The feature also saves shipping and payment information to make it even easier to shop.

“No matter when people are inspired, we are committed to making the shopping experience simple, convenient and secure,” Instagram said in an email to Fashionista. “This is yet another important step in our shopping journey and we’ll continue to listen to feedback from our community and how we can make the experience even better.”
