The partnership aims to answer demand from small business merchants like restaurant owners looking to enable flexible on-demand delivery

Delivery service Postmates has announced it's teaming up with financial/merchant services aggregator Square, Inc.. With the new integration, Square's small business sellers are capable of creating on-demand service, enabling them to conveniently schedule and track customers' deliveries.

James Butts, SVP of product for Postmates, spoke to the growing need from smaller merchants to enable immediate delivery to compete in today's retail climate. “With access to an active fleet of over 300,000 Postmates, local sellers can deliver entirely new experiences to their customers—without the need to hire a developer—while focusing on what they do best: growing their business,” said Butts to VentureBeat.

The partnership allows restaurants and retailers to add the on-demand delivery option through the Square integration by just touching a button. Ultimately, the feature aims to help smaller businesses enable greater flexibility for customers, offering them options for immediate delivery as well as to schedule ahead for a predetermined time.
