The financial giant unveiled new branches in Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium that are designed to provide customers with the comforts of home, including living room-like waiting areas and places for kids to play

Walk into pretty much any bank in the world, and the branch design will be nearly identical: the same carpeting, the same couches, the same counters. But international bank ING is switching things up with a reimagined layout that debuted in Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium today.

The concept spaces are designed to look like modern homes and apartments, with comfortable seating, open kitchens and plenty of light throughout. Each interior is anchored by a large, open table, which serves as a meeting place and a spot to meet fellow customers or employees. Another highlight is an area meant just for kids, which keeps them entertained while their parents are busy.

Each bank is designed to look nearly identical, providing a sense of comfort along with the ease of uniformity. While the new branch design is only available in three countries so far, ING plans to expand it to more regions in the coming months and years.
