The cosmetic brand's newly launched site aims to enable a comprehensive beauty ecommerce experience, linking discovery, trial, tutorials and purchasing in an influencer-driven, curated environment

The makeup brand IL MAKIAGE has introduced an ecommerce platform unlike any other. With the help of beauty influencers, the brand has established a website that allows customers to swipe through beauty looks to personalize their experience. Influencers can upload beauty looks and tutorials that consumers can watch and follow along with, creating an online beauty studio platform.

“It was important for us to design the site with the goal of it being a seamless experience for the consumer, so we used familiar interfaces. Our new ecommerce platform incorporates the favorite features from Tinder (swipe left/right for your favorite looks and influencers, and the AI starts to learn your tastes), YouTube (click on the exact part of the tutorial you’d like to view–like eyes, lips, eyebrows or contour, etc), and then all the products the influencer used are listed, even if they aren’t IL MAKIAGE products,” said Oran Holtzman CEO of IL MAKIAGE in an email to PSFK.

Along with that, the site also allows consumers unsure of what to purchase take a quiz that not only pinpoints the best products, but also color matches customer's skin tone. This eliminates the need to go into the store by creating a fun online experience.

“To solve for trial and the reason why purchases are ultimately made in-store, we’re the first beauty brand to launch a full-size try before you buy program,” said Holtzman. “Our customers can choose up to 4 products to try risk-free for 14 days. They simply pay a small shipping fee and if they love the products, they can keep them and they’ll be charged after the 14 days. If it’s not perfect, they can send them back at no charge.”

Most brands struggle with transferring the in-store experience online, but this brand seems to have found a model that makes each online experience fresh and excitin
