Ridesharing customers who make purchases from in-car commerce company Cargo can earn free Uber rides and other discounts

There's no feeling quite like the joy of entering an Uber that's stocked with snacks. But now, that surprise will come with a few extra perks. Cargo, an in-car commerce service that helps ridesharing drivers sell brand-name goods and boost sales right from their backseats, just inked a deal with Uber that brings savings to riders.

Riders in any Uber car equipped with a Cargo box—which is filled to the brim with snacks and even items like headphones—earns a percentage of their purchases back as rideshare credits. The drivers, too, get a percentage of the price plus $1, even if the items are free. Riders access products through the Cargo Store, available on Android or iOS.

And some of the items available through Cargo aren't even in the car, including Nintendo Switches and Amazon Echos. Although Cargo is available for drivers across all ridesharing apps, this partnership means that it is the only in-car commerce allowed in Ubers worldwide. Along with vouchers, riders are also eligible for discounted tickets through SeatGeek or a free set of AirPods.
