Jumping on the trends of wellness and immersive retail, the athletic brand opened a massive store in the Windy City with an in-house cafe and a dedicated workout floor for yoga and mediation

Athletic apparel brand Lululemon is known for having inviting, wellness-centric stores. But their newest space, located in north Chicago, takes their ethos to an entirely level. Offering wellness classes and a full-scale restaurant on top of retail, the new 20,000-square-foot store redefines the brand as more than just a fashion destination.

The new Lincoln Park store features some eye-catching perks. Two separate studios offer up to 10 classes per day, including yoga and HIIT fitness and full locker rooms ensure that all participants go home feeling refreshed. There's also a dedicated area for self-guided and group meditation.

Fuel Space, the in-house restaurant, features bites like bowls, burgers and smoothies, plus kombucha, coffee, wine and beer for a post-workout pick-me-up. Lululemon also plans to host movie screenings and concerts in the new space. This is all a part of the brand's initiative to become more active in the Chicago community, with the hope of fostering loyalty among customers with unique experiences.

On top of everything else, the one-stop wellness destination is also a flagship store, featuring products from all of its many lines for women and men. And in a company first, Lululemon is piloting a program that allows visitors to take a class in the gear that they're thinking about buying, allowing them to test it before taking it home.

This experimental shop marks the brand's move away from operating as simply a transactional store. Consumers today are looking for new, social experiences, and Lululemon is taking strides to meet this demand. If all goes well, the brand plans on implementing this wellness retail model into future stores.
