Restauranglabbet is a research lab and restaurant concept that tests sustainable practices while serving a dining room full of customers


Combining research with a restaurant experience, Sweden’s Restauranglabbet, or “the Restaurant Lab,” is a transparent research operation for finding sustainable practices. By mixing business with science, the company is looking to create an immersive, environmentally-friendly experience for both researchers and restaurant-goers.

Not all sustainable practices have an outsize impact, so the main goal of the Restaurant Lab is to test out a multitude of practices to discover which ones work best. Through integrating technology, science, academic research and design into a restaurant setting, the group will be able use this pilot program to implement various sustainable efforts, then measure their effectiveness. This allows the team to figure out which practices have the most positive impact on the environment in a live setting.
