Cosmetify is a comparison site that allows customers to digitally test products, shop the best deals and learn more about the items they buy

As ecommerce shifts more and more to shopping online, buying makeup can be a difficult undertaking—after all, beauty products are touched, tried out and tested. But thanks to social media, reviews by fellow beauty lovers can take the place of a physical store.

Now, Cosmetify is taking advantage of this phenomenon by allowing shoppers to compare prices and ingredients from beauty brands, hunting down the best deal in the process. The one-stop shop features 1,593 brands to search, compare and purchase through links on the site.

“Most comparison sites tend to be a bit soulless: They build platforms that may solve a problem but don’t necessarily think about the customer, especially the beauty-savvy one,” said Isa Lavahun, Cosmetify's head of digital, in an email to PSFK. “We’ve built Cosmetify with user experience at the core, providing an easy-to-use site filled with rich, useful and relevant content.”

Cosmetify is designed like combines the interface of ecommerce and the power of a search engine to show beauty gurus over 190,000 product choices. On top of a deep well of product, they can also easily access reviews, videos, tips and ingredient lists, making the choice much easier and more informed.

Founder Matt Davies built the site after noticing a niche that was going unfilled. “There are enough online beauty retailers out there, so his vision was to build a platform that aggregates as many of the options as possible to help the consumer get their chosen products at the best prices,” Lavahun wrote. “And so, Cosmetify was born.”

Added perks like a beauty blog and tutorials keep customers coming back, adding another layer of value to the site. Cosmetify offers a glimpse into the future of ecommerce, proving that a great site and powerful tools can make even difficult categories like beauty easy to shop.
