The financial institution is showcasing its commitment to community by investing $1.5 million in a west-side arts center, increasing public accessibility to art and helping fund up-and-coming creators

U.S.-based TD Bank and The Shed, a creative agency that supports a wide range of art forms, are joining up to launch a funding program that will tap in to and support local communities. Called Open Call, the initiative is designed to give underrepresented artists of New York City their time in the spotlight.

Creators supported by the program will receive between a $7,000 and $15,000 commission to have their works displayed at The Shed’s open air plaza or its theater space. TD’s 1.5 million dollar investment will help development of this program as well as enable the provision of tickets to those in NYCHA public housing and students enrolled in Title 1 schools. This partnership with The Shed and investment in Open Call is part of TD’s The Ready Commitment, a program started to help create a more inclusive world through enhancing public accessibility to art and culture.
