Fans now have the chance to meet their favorite players, going on rides and locker room visits with virtual versions of Atlanta's athletes thanks to the auto brand's new tech

The Atlanta sports scene is about to get way more immersive. At the revamped Mercedes-Benz Stadium, sports fans are now able to interact with virtual versions of their favorite players, thanks to brand-new AR activations.

A combination of voice commands and AR drives the three displays, which include celebration dances, ride-along tours in electric vehicles and chats inside replicas of each team's locker rooms. The concept, which was spearheaded by Mercedes-Benz, features players from both the Falcons and Atlanta United, including Calvin Ridley and Matt Ryan.

“We are thrilled to bring this innovative AR technology to our hometown Atlanta fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium,” said Monique Harrison, department head of brand experience marketing, in a statement. “This dazzling re-imagining of the fan experience parallels the ever-evolving technological advancements of Mercedes-Benz automobiles and offers fans an opportunity to interact with the brand in a fun new way.”

The experience kicked off at the Falcons' first home game of the season. Through 2021, the stadium offers fans the chance to meet their heroes in a variety of settings, at least in a digital form.
