In a custom Volkswagen van, Nike is hitting the road to celebrate its past as Blue Ribbon Sports, offering exclusive kicks in three cities

Nike is rewinding the clock to celebrate its humble beginnings. Partnering with Volkswagen, the athletic retailer is hitting the road to introduce fans of the brand to Blue Ribbon Sports, which was Nike's original name.

The two are setting off on a coast-to-coast journey to educate visitors on Nike's history, stopping in Santa Monica, Chicago and New York City. Volkswagen contributed a custom electric ID van that's decked out in vintage Nike logos and Blue Ribbon Sports decor to use on the road trip. The vehicle is an updated version of the the bus that founder Jeff Johnson drove in the brand's early days.

Inside the mobile shoe store, customers can pick up exclusive pairs of kicks that draw inspiration from heritage colorways and silhouettes. The pop-up also recycles old sneakers through Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe initiative. The tour kicked off earlier this month ends in New York City on October 15.
