At PSFK 2015, we learn why convenience, efficiency and 'smart luxury' are necessary for a mobile citizen

The future of the hospitality and travel industry requires an emphasis on convenience and efficiency, according to citizenM  commercial director of USA Noreen Chadha. In her talk at PSFK 2015 Chadha discusses building an affordable, boutique hotel that appeals to the next generation traveler—someone who is mobile, tech-savvy and looking for ‘smart luxury.’

Out of frustration with her own experiences with long lines at hotel check-ins, scripted staff and hidden room fees, Chadha imagined the potential to design a hotel from a completely blank canvas.

Looking at the necessities that design-oriented and contemporary travelers desire in their everyday lives—from a really great cup of coffee in the morning to an on-demand car to an inspired work space —citizenM came to life. The art and design vision was to create an experience that feels like home.
