Megazines

Our friends at Something In The Way sent us a proud email letting us know that their little journal has been selected as one of the ‘Megazines’ that Visionaire magazine will celebrate in a show at its New York gallery in August and September. The Visionaire press release says:

MEGAZINES AT VISIONAIRE GALLERY traces the influence of the

pioneering titles that have left an indelible impression on magazine

publishing. This includes the complete set of Gazette du Bon Ton, the

first fully illustrated fashion magazine; the surrealist publication View;

Fleur Cowles’s Flair; Provoke, the infamous Japanese photo journal;

and the large-format fashion magazine The Manipulator, among many

more. The exhibition also presents a vital selection of landmark and first

issues from the powerhouses that remain at the forefront of the editorial

landscape, including Andy Warhol’s Interview, i-D, Self Service, Details,

Tokion and Parkett. Alongside these classic titles, the show presents a

strong selection of over eighty new and emerging publications including

Permanent Food, Fanzine 137, Acne Paper, and 032c. Bold in concept,

content, and design, these young titles are just a few that represent

the future of independent magazine publishing.

Look out for further celebration of ‘Independent Publishing’ in the next issue of Royal Magazine too!
