GM To Offer In-Car iPod Wire, Not As Standard

by Piers Fawkes

Urgh. We ignored this story yesterday when someone tipped us off, but the rest of the web seems to be writing about this so we suppose we better mention it: For $160 plus labor, you can get a wire that connects your radio to your iPod in your GM, Ford and Mazda cars.

This was or reply to the tipster who mailed us yesterday:

“160 bucks plus installation? It’s a little late in the game, no? I imagine most kids will just use a Monster fm tuner to play their ipods
through their car radios.”

To be fair, the tipster (RY) came back with this:

“I guess - if you like horrible sound…i find fm tuner horrible. I live in a DC and there’s too much radio to get good sound. just my sensibility though for having good clean sound. maybe others can tolerate the staticky backgournd noise. the installation allows control by the steering wheel and some other things.”

Thanks RY.
