Clap Your Hands Say Yeah : Downloadable Album Release

Slt_cover_3Sometime before 3PM EST today(Jan. 16th), CYHSY will release their 2nd album, Some Loud Thunder, as a download through their website.

Order the album as a download and you’ll receive a real CD (made
of real plastic) somewhere around January 30th when the album officially
comes out.

You’ll also be able to order a limited edition Some Loud
Thunder t-shirt for a low price.

A few weeks ago, Leland at Whistle Through Your Comb wondered how a band might succeed in saving rock ‘n roll in America without a record deal.  Having successfully sidestepped the labels, and pioneered independent distribution tactics, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah seems to be making all the right moves.

  1. Check out the “Breaking Views” column of the January 17 Wall Street Journal. There’s a great analysis of how Clap Your Hands is changing the economics of the music business. Instead of making $2 per album sale, the Brooklyn-based band figures to pocket as much as $6-$7 per sale. The commentary hints that the White Stripes might be next…

  2. Chris Anderson makes a good point -Profit opportunities are not in song sales, they’re in live performances.
