A leaked internal document suggests that Tesco is looking to build town-center retail stores that will take on the department stores. The British stores will sell food, televisions, clothing, homewares and toys over two or three floors.
Tesco currently owns 29m sq ft and gobbles up £1 of every £7 spent in the UK’s shops.
