iphone To Support Third Party Software

By Dan Gould on March 10, 2008

It was announced last week that the iphone is now open to third party software developers. There’s understandably a lot of excitement over the potential. With it’s multi touch capabilities and lack of fixed buttons, the possibilities are endless.

But there’s concerns about limitations. Only one third party application can run at a time and Apple has a huge set of rules and regulations that software developers need to follow. Apple also must approve all programs before they can be released. All new iphone programs will only be sold through itunes and the new iPhone “Apps Store”, with 30% of the sale going to Apple.
