A comment in our recent post, Is Technology Destroying The Art Of DJing? led us to an awesome new tool for DJs to manipulate and play music.
The ATTIGO TT was created by Scott Hobbs, a student at Dundee University studying innovative product design. For his final year project he’s created a touch screen turntable that lets DJ’s loop, sample and scratch wave forms just as you would a record. The size of the touchtable is approximately the same as a standard turntable, making the physical interaction nearly the same. Where this takes off is in the flexibility and features included right at your fingertips, no longer locked up on a computer screen. The ATTIGO TT is currently a working prototype, and Scott is looking for manufacturers to partner with.

Now the DJ will become more productive. He or she will be able to queue up and still be able to add enhancements to the current song playing. Great Job!

The advantages of a technology such as the ATTIGO are undeniable…
1) Customizable - Views and functions are 100% customizable via software (unlike any other DJ hardware out there).
2) Control - Can double as a midi controller (much like Stanton SCS, Vestax VCI-100, etc..)
3) Visuals - Has an intrinsic visual appeal for the audience (and somewhat of a mystique).
4) Efficient - Theoretically it can perform the duties that several pieces of DJ gear do (if it’s designed right)

I rather Stick To My Technics 1210. I Dont Wanna Talk in The Name Of The Djs, But i wont Sell My Gear To Buy the ATTIGO, And You Cant Even compare the feel of A Flatscreen with a analog turntable

Technology like this means we have to listen to people like Peaches Geldoff saying she is a DJ…..what a load of bollocks!
Why not replace the guy with a robot?

technology factor pretty cool. But how would you beat mix? there is no spinning forward or reverse. No stem to control speed. What about the infamous rewind? Automatic pitch reset? cue lighting? how accurate is the bpm’s when matching? I’ll stick to my techs. The guy demonstrating looks like he needs some dj skills by the way.
