I’m a long, long time Trader Joe’s fan. Having grown up in Southern California I remember going to TJ’s more than 20 years ago. The whole story behind the store is that they are an international importer of delicacies from around the world. Check out the decor of the store and the way the employees dress – it’s a South Seas motif that speaks of a bygone era of goods from around the world traveling by boat.
So, while there is indeed a more general trend towards the local, for Trader Joe’s to go in that direction would be in conflict with the story that have built over more than two decades.
