Parallel Kingdom is making waves for being one of the first massively multiplayer online games (MMO) developed for play on both the iPhone and Android platforms. The interface, upon first glance, isn’t all that striking - it’s the real/virtual world gameplay that is the exciting part. The game relies on the mobile device’s GPS to detect the player’s real world movement on an onscreen map; each change in location corresponding with the ingame players movements. Players who are stationary are given the option of making limited movement within the game without having to leave their seats - but the real action is only set into motion through physically movement.
