Shepard Fairey On Changing the Dominant Paradigm

Here’s a video clip of Shepard Fairey discussing his Obama icon, his surprise about the viral use of it and the opportunity to help change the dominant paradigm with his art.

In a note I sent Shepard this week I thanked him for creating an icon that the world picked up, waved and shared to show their support for such important change. I told him that I felt that the iconography allowed us all to see that there were millions of likeminds wanting to see change – and I think that recognition brought in millions of new voters and therefore helped fuel Obama’s success*.
