With the most Internet users in the world (253 million), China is a particularly interesting place to observe the rapid development of Internet Word of Mouth (IWOM) and what it means for netizens, brands, campaigns, etc.  To help navigate the IWOM environment in China, we can now turn to a new series of white papers released by Shanghai-based CIC, who has been leading the way for social media analysis in China.

Below is the first release, covering the general Chinese IWOM landscape:

According to CIC, the series is being released for free in the following 4 parts:

  1. Topic One: The Chinese IWOM Landscape – An overview of the development, the architecture and the impact of Chinese IWOM.
  2. Topic Two: Alternative Ways to Measure Internet Community Dynamics – An introduction to some examples of community measurement indexes to display the dynamics of the Internet environment.  This introduction will help brands and community owners systematically understand the impact and importance of community and IWOM from a third party perspective.
  3. Topic Three: The Diversity of Chinese Net Language – A look at the importance and uniqueness of Chinese net language and how it has become an integral part of netizens’ life online.
