Coca-Cola’s Customizable Soda Vending Machine

Coca-Cola’s Customizable Soda Vending Machine

By Nicko Margolies on August 3, 2009

Coca-Cola recently unveiled a vending machine that dispenses customizable soda drinks and tracks users’ favorite choices.  The prototype vending machine will carry a staggering 140 beverage flavors and customers can pick their drinks based on calories, caffeine content or just color via a touch screen interface.  Each choice is customizable and the basic flavors can be played with by the user’s modifications.

The simple design has a single dispenser and will likely require many visits before customers learn exactly what they want.  The vending system is also hooked up to a network to monitor each choice and if a unique combination becomes a favorite, the Coca-Cola headquarters could potentially roll it out immediately as a new worldwide product.
