Motto Books Berlin: A Haven for Self Publishers

Motto Books Berlin: A Haven for Self Publishers

By Dan Gould on September 9, 2009

We recently came across Motto Berlin, a unique, carefully edited store dedicated to fanzines, small run magazines, books and self published printed matter. The understated shop looks more like a private, wood-paneled reference library than any kind of typical book seller, and stocks over 400 hand-picked titles. Glass showcases give prominence to these usually underground publications, and drawers hold archives of back issues for future review. Acting as a gallery, event space and library, Motto offers a significant contribution to the publishing community beyond just acting as a retailer.
