The NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission is rolling out a plan that will provide cabs running on predetermined routes, with designated pick-up and drop-off spots. The plan calls for fares that incentivize shared use; Taxi and Limousine Commission chief Matt Daus notes that

“the concept really boils down to: take less money out of passengers’ pockets, put more money in drivers’ pockets, put less pollution in the air, and give passengers more transportation options.”
