Intelligent Barcode Indicates Vegetable Freshness

Fresh Code-An Intelligent Barcode That Recedes With A Vegetable's Freshness 2

Designers Sisi Yuan, Yiwu Qiu, Lei Zhao, Qiulei Huang, Lijun Zhang & Weihang Shu have created an intelligent barcode, called the Fresh Code, which indicates the current freshness level of vegetables. The barcode uses a special ink that recedes with time, indicating the remaining life of the produce till it reaches zero level.

We reported on a similar ingenious label design which ensures the safety of packaged meat, last year.
