Netherlands start-up Vrachtfiets (Dutch for “Cargo Bicycle”) provides a pedal-based solution to the often arduous task of moving your home or office within a large urban area. Their version of the cargo bike contains a large storage space with two wheels, pulled by two drivers- and will soon have a solar-powered electrical assist in order to help manage heavier loads.
This concept has already attracted the attention of the city of Delft in Holland (Vrachtfiets’ first customers), who have an interest in exploring different types of sustainable mobility. This concept could certainly prove to be a low-cost, emission-free option for moving items within cities around the world- where moving trucks and vans only create more confusion and pollution in the existing glut of traffic congestion.
