Project Explores Factories Of The Future In Cities
Designer David Benque has developed a project for an exhibition at the Royal College of Art, London that explores factories of the future, showing manufacturing facilities as small-scale and mobile. David believes that with advances in micro-scale engineering, it may be possible to have local, disposable facilities such as garages, street vendor stalls and temporary structures in cities to produce hi-tech goods.
One of his exhibits on display is a Mobile Manufacturing Unit which takes inspiration from the traveling fairground, touring the country, setting up in different cities for a few months and offering a new source of jobs and goods to the local community.
