Track Bike Concept Sends Messages, Organizes Group Rides

By Daniel Edmundson on June 14, 2010

Group rides are big in freestyle bicycling culture, so it makes sense that innovation would move in the direction of helping riders better achieve organization through technology.

Designer Michael Shrewbury has created a track bike concept called “The Glide” that features hub-less wheels, a sturdy, nano-carbon frame and internal crank set that prevents hanging clothing from getting rolled in the chain.

The real charm of the concept is a synching smartphone dock built into the handlebars, which automatically downloads an app that allows users to see where nearby bikers are located and organize group rides.
