Brooklyn-based furniture design company Uhuru presented its Coney Island Line at New York Design Week a few months back. The collection consists of limited edition furniture made from reclaimed Ipe wood from the iconic boardwalk of Coney Island. The designs are inspired by the rides of the erstwhile amusement park; be it the Cyclone Lounger that is reminiscent of a rollercoaster, the Wonder Wheel Coffee Table reminding of the ride itself or the Boardwalk Console whose table top is patterned on the inlaid design of the original boardwalk.
