Marc Jacobs is now designing pencil cases and other school supplies under the label ‘Book Marc’. The blogosphere speculates whether this is an indication that the West Village space purchased by Jacobs – and set to open in Winter 2010 – could be a book store carrying the name and label ‘Book Marc’, or just another clothing boutique under the Marc Jacobs empire.

Designer school supplies? Another extension of the cool – and increasingly large – Marc Jacobs ‘lifestyle’ brand empire. If done right – the Book Marc label could also offer Jacobs the opportunity to make the larger Marc Jacobs brand feel ‘small’, or more local, once it opens its planned concept in the West Village space.
