David Karp and Ryan Trecartin's Seven on Seven project goes live.

Born out of Rhizome’s Seven on Seven collaboration, which paired leading digital technological thinkers with media artists, David Karp and Ryan Trecartin’s Riverofthe.net offers a stream of consciousness feed of web videos. Formerly known as Project Ten, the site streams ten seconds clips of user-uploaded videos from digital sites — an automated playlist if you will; the connective tissue for selection and surfing relies on user-generated tagging only.

While this device may seem simple and obvious, it brings search to the fore as an entertainment tool, using the logic of the Semantic web as well as acting as a commentary on the reconfigurations of attention spans.

Art Fag City has a full interview with Trecartin about the evolution of the project.
