Old and new media collide in a charming digital - papercraft hybrid.

Artists Davy and Kristin MacGuire have combined handcraft with contemporary digital media methods to create a spellbinding fairytale. The artists have created the Ice Book, an animated pop – up book fairytale, accomplished by an eerie 3D effect created by projecting video onto the pages of a bespoke pop-up book.

(The Ice Book) tells the story of a mysterious princess who lures a boy into her magical world to warm her heart of ice. It is made from sheets of paper and light, designed to give a live audience an intimate and immersive experience of film, theatre, dance, mime and animation

Watch the video below to appreciate the amazing contrast a black and white projection adds to a classic print medium.
