The gay-marriage debate has taken an unusual turn with the idea of robot-marriage raised.

Discussing the ‘science behind the issue’ of gay marriage, Robert Broadus of Protect Marriage Maryland believes that a bill allowing the marriage of same-gender couples may pave the way for human-android unions.

Demonstrating his point, Broadus makes mention to ‘Lieutenant Commander Data‘ from popular Sci-Fi series Star Trek, commenting that the character was ‘able to generate a tear because he could feel emotion’.

Regardless of how ridiculous this sounds right now, it’s possible that this very well could be a future issue.
