We’ve seen quite a few brands venture into selling bicycles over the past few years. Home furnishings retailer CB2 is the latest. They collaborated with Republic Bikes on the design and development of two classic Dutch opafiets (grandpa’s bikes) inspired models. The abuelo and abuela or ‘his’ and ‘hers’ are 3-speed city bikes designed for commuting or relaxed riding. Both models include cargo racks with bungee straps. The women’s abuela comes with a skirt guard on the rear wheel and a fully enclosed sprocket and chain.

The bikes are only available in one color scheme currently, black frame with red accents and yellow tires. It is curious that CB2 didn’t launch the bikes with a more on brand color scheme like grey and orange.

Each of the bikes are listed for $499 on their website putting them in a very affordable category. They wisely deliver the bikes 95% assembled allowing for customers to basically ride them home if they are purchased at a CB2 store. Whether CB2 will offer bikes color coordinated with their furniture to satisfy those obsessed with home interior decor remains to be seen.
